Oxford Brookes University
Project Description
Headington Hill Campus is the latest addition to the Oxford Brookes University campus collection and will house the Faculty of Technology, Design & Environment. The 2-bulding development, which sits within a Grade II Listed estate, now houses a new teaching block, faculty offices and an engineering building – all designed to transform STEM and creative activities within the university. A large aspect of the new facility will be centred around the university’s interest in Formula 1 technologies and research.
The teaching block spans across 3 floors and includes an immersion lab, robotics lab, 3D printing equipment, Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality and Augmented Reality technologies, and a dedicated computer suite. A key component to the building is the Virtual Reality Cave, enabling students from a range of courses to create virtual buildings and towns, use interactive CAD design and disassemble a Formula 1 car to test changes to its design.
Meanwhile, the workshop will be the home to specialist engineering equipment with state-of-the-art labs and teaching spaces. These include high voltage testing areas, advanced scanning technologies and an automotive lab with a range of Formula 1 racing cars to be researched on.
